Thank you to everyone who replied to my last message about HF3239/SF3439 (or called or texted), including those who aren't in Minnesota who were not only concerned for us, but also have the wherewithal and foresight to say, "How can I help? I don't want this happening in my state."

Okay, so I wanted to send this message a couple of days ago, but it's been a nutty week. So here I am late on a Friday afternoon.

I dropped everything to get on this and let's just say...TGIF. Calls, emails, texts with multiple people, including an attorney friend. Total distraction.

And I'm not much of a drinker (never at home), but after I send this, I'm making myself a stout lemon drop. 

I've learned that we're off the hook...for now. 

A friend is close with Rep. Jim Nash and she reached out this week to say, "This bill won't go anywhere. Omnibus won't happen, either."

I was like, uh, are you sure? 

She said, "Yes. He's a rep and the house GOP whip, so in leadership. He knows what will happen and won’t."

...

I said that he needs to make a video to counter another one that's making the rounds. He told my friend that he didn't have time, just to share what he said.

Well, a couple of hours ago, he made the video. ⬅️

We can exhale for now. 

But the price of democracy is constant vigilance. 

Make no mistake, this bill will still be live next year, so we have to make our voices heard. 

As long as I have breath in my lungs, I'll be breathing down their necks. 🫁

I’m writing as a concerned citizen from [Your City, State] and have been closely following Minnesota's legislative activity on HF3239/SF3439. I strongly urge you to oppose HF3239/SF3439, a bill that would eliminate the conscientious exemption for the MMR vaccine for children in all educational settings—including daycare, public, private, and even homeschool. This bill would effectively mandate vaccination without exception, infringing on parental rights, religious freedom, and medical autonomy. 

While I do not reside in Minnesota, I care deeply about this issue. 

Minnesota currently allows conscientious exemptions, which are essential for families who make informed decisions based on personal, ethical, or religious beliefs. HF3239/SF3439 would strip this right away, leaving no legal recourse for those who cannot comply for deeply held reasons. 

While I understand that committee deadlines have already passed this session, I’m deeply concerned about the potential for this language to be added to an omnibus bill—especially after what just occurred in the Senate. As you may know, a floor amendment related to homeschooling was introduced to the Education Policy Omnibus this week and passed, despite that language not appearing in *any* filed bill this session. That sets a precedent for late, significant changes—without public debate or due process. Given this, I ask you to remain vigilant and actively oppose the inclusion of HF3239/SF3439 or similar provisions in any legislation moving forward. 
 

Please stand with Minnesota families and vote **NO** on HF3239/SF3439 in any form. Medical decisions should remain in the hands of families—not the state. 

I appreciate that you are tasked with representing the interests of your constituents and I trust that includes careful scrutiny of legislation that may affect broader communities.
